Altered Jotter

I bought some of these jotters a while back with a view to doing something crafty with them, so Tuesday Taggers current challenge ALTERED?, YOU BET! seemed to fit the bill.

I cut two pieces of dark green Bazill card, and cut a slot in one piece for the pen holder. Next I cut two strips of the same green card and put one through my ribbler and then I stuck them together for strength. I then cut out a pretty piece of patterned paper by Elusive Images and made a slot in this piece too. I covered the front cover of the jotter with the green card and then layered on the patterned paper with the slots aligned. Then I poked the strip through the slots and attached it to the back of the front cover. I hid all the untidiness by covering the back of the front cover with the other piece of green card.
Then I tried to die cut a piece of grunge paper, ha ha! After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing through my cuttlebug, I cut out with scissors, the flowers I had been trying to die-cut. I painted them with two shades of Twinkling H20's, and when dry stamped the large flower with a Crafty Individuals flourish stamp and applied gold Stickles to the smaller flower and inked around the edges. A punched stamen and a gem finished this project off. I had printed the words 'shopping list' on a separate piece of design paper and matted this onto the green bazill card, but when I went to add it to the cover I thought it was 'too much', so abandoned that idea.

A magnetic strip on the back ensures a position on the fridge, with all the other junk!

This was a very quick project (and I cannot claim the idea to be mine as I have seen these on several blogs, can't remember whose, but thank you for the inspiration!) as now the weather seems to have turned a corner I am back down the allotment.

TFL and for all your lovely comments.
