My Acetate Debut

Here is my entry for CAS-tastic challenges, which is a nice easy one.....birthday cards. I've been inspired to use acetate for the first time as I've seen so many gorgeous examples in blogland. I found it quite difficult to crease even tho' I used my score board and it's a bugger to photograph! (especially on a grey day like today)

The paper and sentiment came from a Kirsty Wiseman CD which I'm mad on at the moment, I just simply added some ribbon and a button mounted on a circle of black card.

Another problem I encountered when making this, was keeping it clean. No sooner was the acetate out of the packet when all sorts of fluff and cat hair seemed to be drawn to it. It probably wasn't very sensible to be wearing an Angora jumper, I shall know next time! Fingerprints are another problem, but I managed to rub them off.

Hope you have a nice weekend wherever you are. I have my niece Emily coming today, she has asked if we can make Coconut Ice and I expect we might make something pretty to put it in.

Thanks for looking and all your kind words.

Fiona x

  1. Love this, love the colors and the design and the acetate! I like working with acetate as well, but I know what you mean about keeping it clean. That is a challenge! (Try goo gone on a cotton ball when everything is done, just make sure to keep it away from the paper!)

  4. Looks like you're an acetate expert to me Fiona :), your card is stunning, I love everything about it! It is a bugger to keep clean, photograph, crease etc., etc., etc., but your card is worth all that, it's so beautiful. I think your second photo is ace! Lovely to see Emily's post, she's very sweet and following in Auntie Fi's crafty footsteps too. Oh by the way........ I love coconut ice :D, Chris xxx
