Fanciful Things

Hello Again,

I'm back with a card that took me ages to produce, simply because I made my first attempt at 'real' stitching. Normally, I can't be arsed to get the sewing machine out as it weighs a ton, but as I was mending some trews and it was there I thought I'd give it a shot. Ha ha, three attempts later my stitching was still as straight as a dog's hind leg, and as I was in danger of running out of cardstock, I reverted to Plan B- faux stitching. This I can do.

The image came from my new Kirsty Wiseman CD-A Colour Burst of Fanciful Things as did the DP. I cut out the image with nesties and mounted onto red card again cut with nesties. I found some button stamps in my stash from See D's, and heat embossed them with white EP. A freebie sentiment from a mag and a ribbon finished it off.

I made this card with The Sunday Stamptacular Challenge in mind where the theme is 'Sew Special' I thought the image and the buttons had a dressmaking feel about them. I am also entering it into the current CAS-tastic challenge where it's 'Anything CAS'.

Back to the madhouse this afternoon, oh well, got to do something to pay for all my crafting purchases.

ttfn and thank you for looking at my efforts.

Back Again

Hello there,

I've had a bit of a break from my craft room lately but today the weather wasn't so good so I thought I'd see what I could come up with. I am entering this latest creation in the following challenges.

Colour Create-Burnt Orange, Black and Cream
Raise The Bar-Colour Me Happy
Our Creative Corner-Blooming Blossoms
One Stitch at a Time-Flowers

I made all the flowers on this card using punches, I shaped the petals using a ball tool and inked around the edges of some of them. The leaves were made using a punch and with slivers of card which had been curled. The stamped sentiment is by Stampendous and is embossed with Disco Black EP, I think you can just about see the sparkle.

Hope you've all had a relaxing weekend.
Bfn and thanks for looking.

Shall I say 'Cheese'?

Hello,

I've got this contraption, a backdrop thingy that I use when I take photo's of my cards. I knew it had been visited, by the amount of fur left behind but today I caught the minx in the act!

Perhaps she thinks I give crafting more attention than her or maybe she just wants her picture taken ?

I've got an enforced day off today as Gatwick is closed for the second day running so no aircraft to despatch. We are having to use our holiday which has not gone down well but going to use the time off to get some stuff done.

Finished this, my latest make last night after a lot of deliberating. Not terribly happy with it as I don't think it looks very cohesive but I didn't find this challenge one of the easier ones. This is what we had to use this time.

The rules have changed slightly and now state that you only need to use three 'ingredients' but I have tried to use them all as previously.

I used a cream basecard and stamped the seashell border along one side using Versafine Sepia and heat embossed it. The shells were watercoloured using a combination of D.I.'s and Cosmic Shimmer. Then I scored the card to the side of the border, and added a picture which I found on a vintage images website, matted onto some brown card from my stash. I added a deckchair ticket, a computer generated 'sentiment' (cut out with a nestie) a shell button, and finally some glitter was added to the waves. I inked around the edges of the photo and the oval with black ink but it's a dreadful day for taking photo's today and this is not really visible.

Will look forward to seeing other entries for this challenge and wonder what you will think about this one?

By the way, I had a win in the office Grand National sweepstake at the weekend! My horse came first and I pocketed £40 which I spent yesterday on two new sets of nesties, how lucky am I ??

ttfn and thanks for dropping by.

PS Thanks to Eunice for lending me the seashell stamp.

Silver and Blue

This is my entry for the Lili of the Valley challenge this week where they want to see cards using blue and silver. I used my new Leafy Swirl image by Clarity Stamps. I saw this stamp on Sarita's blog and just had to have it. I'm sure it's going to get lots of use.

I used a blue pearlescent base card and simply heat embossed the image with silver EP and then cut around the edge of the embossing. Next I cut a circular aperture on the front of the card using a small nestie. Then I cut a piece of blue mirri board to fit inside the card and cut an aperture in the same place. Before sticking the mirri board down, I held it in place and traced around the aperture with a pencil. Then I stamped BIRTHDAY WISHES by Personal Impressions in this space and embossed it, again with silver EP, and then stuck the mirri board down onto the inside if the card, with the sentiment showing through the aperture in the mirri board.

Lastly I added some ribbon (recycled from an old birthday card) which I tied in a knot, and a silver flower.

Need a bit more practise with this type of card as I didn't quite get the stamped sentiment centrally aligned in the aperture. However, I don't mind that it is not 100% perfect, it shows it is hand-made.

Enjoy your weekend and thank you for looking.

3-in-1

I started to tidy up my garden today but then it began to rain, so what better to do than some crafting instead. Here is my latest make which I'm entering into the following challenges.

Tuesday Taggers- A Tag (sponsored by Georgina)
Our Creative Corner- Buttons
The Pink Elephant- Nature

I coloured the base card of my tag with Antique Linen D.I. building the colour up around the edges. Then I inked around the edges with Faded Jeans and Old Paper D.I. I stamped some images from Crafty Individuals-207 in various shades of blue. Next I stamped the french Nature quote by Katzelkraft in Walnut Stain D.I. and heat embossed it with clear EP.

I matted this tag onto a piece of toning green Bazzil which had been spritzed with blue Cosmic Shimmer
and distressed around the edges. I punched a hole and tied some raffia through it and added a blue button to finish.

Hope you like it, not a great photo day today as you can see. TFL and for all your lovely comments.

Some Humour

Hello Folks,

Hope you all had a good Easter. I was dashing around the Gatwick tarmac for most of it, such is life.
Here is my entry for the current Crafty Calendar Challenge which has the theme of April Fool/Humorous. This was another quick card as not had much time for crafting lately.

I found this mini stamp by Inkadinkado in my stash and thought it would be nice to make a pocket on the card for some chocolate. The stripy paper is by Docrafts and the pocket was made from some vibrant purple Bazzill, but it looks a bit blue in these photo's! A border strip was made using purple mirri board punched with holes.

The stamped image was coloured with watercolour pencils and cut out with nestie Labels. I inked around the image whilst the paper was still inside the die, and applied some Glossy Accents to his specs but don't look too closely cos it's gone a bit lumpy! (think it must be past it's sell-by date!) Finally I added three paper domed dots at the top, and a bar of chocolate.

Thank you for looking, ttfn.
