Animal

Today's subject for March photo a day is an animal, so here is mine.

Prue (aka Prudy Cat, Prudes, Prudles and Lady Muck) has been with me for 12 years now. I 'rescued' her from the Cats Protection League which had a centre here in the village. I didn't live here then, so it was ironic that we came to live in the same place that I found her, the CPL has now moved elsewhere. I remember well the day I got her, Mum and I went to have a look and Prudy (then named Izzy) was the only cat who would let me pick her up, albeit very briefly and she still will only abide it for about a minute, tops. There were so many lovely cats there but I didn't think it sensible to choose a timid and frightened cat as I am out at work each day and a such a cat needs more time and attention than I can give.
I made a good choice, she is a lovely moggy, so affectionate and trusting and she rarely strays far from me. (apart from when the Hoover is on or young children are around.) I've never had many 'presents', (the last one was a dead rat about 3 yrs ago) and she's such a scaredy cat that she avoids getting into scraps.

Have you got a lovely animal?

  1. She looks really lovely Fiona and that's a great photo. She has beautiful eyes too - unusual to see that colour on a black and white cat.
Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

  2. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwh! She's such a beauty hun, adore her markings, what a pretty girl indeed. My Vince would fall in love with her. Shame he's been "done", they would make some gorgeous kittens together. Hugs Sxx

  3. She's a beauty! Two of my cats are black and white, and three of the four are from the RSPCA and Cat Shelter. I cry every time I go, and would take all the old manky scruffy ones no one else wants, if it was up to me. When I'm an old woman and OH is dead (I may have killed him but it will never be proved) and the kids are grown up and living elsewhere, I will be Crazy Cat Woman with a houseful of rescued moggies. I am rather looking forward to it! xxxxxx

  4. What a beautiful girl, I can imagine how soft her fur is. She's looking great for her age.
We've got two cats and a tortoise, all of them can be little buggers. x

  5. Awe! She's gorgeous and clearly a fabulous companion. :) haven't had any cats in a while but I currently have 2 crazy pooches. Atticus is a Rhodesian ridgeback/Doberman mix and Jem is a pit bull mix. Can't imagine life without them!

  6. Prudie is gorgeous Fiona! My Tuppence came from the CPL too and was found with her sister when tiny, abandoned on a bridle path. We took them both in although sadly Ha'penny, her sister, died 5 years ago. Tuppence is 14 now but looks like a kitten and she wouldn't be picked up for years. It's only been in the last two years that I can coax her onto my lap for a stroke and she's still quite nervy but she's such an old lady that sometimes she just forgets herself and crashes out! (Bit like me really!) Vicky x
