Sussex Scenes and Random Ramblings

I've been out and about this last week, firstly a drive through leafy Sussex to TW for a squizz round the chazza's and a fabric purchase.

The chazza's were fruitful and I came home with a mac, a polka dot blouse and a Fatface skirt.  I suspect there would have been more but I had to race back to the car after two hours as the sodding Pay & Display machine failed to register that I had paid for three... and there's never an attendant around when you need one, is there ?

On my way home through Holtye I noticed an abundance of bluebells on the common and stopped for a photo when I discovered an abandoned church and went for a nosy.

The graveyard was extremely overgrown but amongst the weeds and long grass was a mass of bluebells and primroses.  I felt as if I was in The Secret Garden, it was so quiet, not a soul in sight and just the wildlife for company.  It seems terribly sad that the graveyard is so neglected and by the looks of it, none of the graves cared for.  A Google search revealed that St Peter's has been redundant since 2007.

On Sunday I drove out to a tiny village in picturesque East Sussex for a vintage car meet-up in a pub car park.

En route I spotted a gorgeous field of rape and made a mental note to stop for a pic on my return.   After a pub lunch and a ride in a fifty year old truck I set off home via the beautiful field, where I took these snaps.

I parked by the gate to the field, not realizing how wet, muddy and churned up the ground was until I tried to drive off, when ....you've guessed it I was well and truly stuck.  The car wheels were spinning like mad in a quagmire and I was in the middle of nowhere with new red sneakers on!  I tried ringing the pub in the hope that my friends were still there and could come to rescue me but I couldn't get a signal.  Fortunately I was saved by a lovely group of lady cyclists who happened by and volunteered to push me out.

I'm back to work today, I wonder what this week will bring?  I'm getting quite an education in sex aids lately...honestly, you wouldn't believe what some people pack in their hand luggage.

  1. Love the photos Fiona, my photography skills are very poor! Great to see all those lovely old cars lovingly restored. Thank heavens for men who like to "tinker with cars" lol. I love this time of year, bluebells, primroses, may blossom, cherry blossom. Mmm all those lovely colours out in the countryside for all to see. xx

  2. Hahaha, that last sentence is my favourite!
But never mind the sex toys, Lady Fifi, what a gorgeous set of photos! The bluebells and old church are stunning, and the yellow rape against the blue sky is really beautiful.
Nice chazza finds too, I can see you wearing both of those and looking fab.
Keep us posted with what turns up in the hand luggage this week! xxxx

  5. Hoorah for the lady cyclists! I've been meaning to stop and take a photo of the oilseed rape, but will probably end up missing it, like I did with the magnolia. Lovely pictures Fiona, and fab old cars. Quite exciting stumbling across that church and graveyard, shame it's neglected. Sounds like you've had your fair share of surprises recently! :)

  6. I'd love to know what weird and wonderful things people pack in their hand luggage and I bet its the most unlikely of travellers!
    Love that blouse.
Those photos are gorgeous, a typically English looking village, like a setting for an Agatha Christie film. Love the rape, always looks like sunshine. xxx

  7. That happened to me once - getting stuck in mud I mean (NOT, and I stress, getting stopped for packing inappropriate hand luggage). Love the spotty blouse. xx

  12. I just looked at this post and your one with pictures from Spain. I think these pictures from Britain are more lovely (except for all that bright sunshine!). And the German women on the beach with their pendulous breasts add up to another point in Britain's favor!
