Off The Edge Flowers

I'm on a day off today and as it is virtually impossible to go out due to the annual London to Brighton bike ride which comes through our village, I decided to stay home and potter.  I've planted some French marigolds, nasties and lobelia....let's hope the sodding snails don't get them, I  mosied down to the main road to take a few snaps of the cyclists, rather them than me but jolly good on them....and I've made a few cards. I made this one for this week's LIM challenge - One Layer Off The Edge, can you spot the mistake?

Grrr, how bloody annoying.  How many times have I done this now? In future maybe the LIM ladies can make the words One Layer flash on/off for idiots like myself ??  Never mind, I know I'm not the only one to have made this mistake.  Fortunately I also made it for  Sweet Stampin - Say It With Flowers and Time Out challenges - Summer/Flowers  The image is an old one by Penny Black which I coloured with watercolour pencils, the sentiment is also by PB.  I added a soupcon of glitter (anyone know how to add a cedilla?) and a few blue gems.  The card featured in my last post was a winner at Creative Inspirations, so thanks ladies you cheered me up after a shitty week at work.

Thanks also to those of you who left comments and advice about my sewing machine dilemma.  I have managed to track down a machine repair shop and intend to have them take a look to establish if it's terminal or not. Fingers crossed my skirt will get finished soon.

I wonder where the last bike rider is right now?

I'm off now to tackle a mountain of ironing, have a good week all.

  1. Staying home ad pottering sounds very appealing to me. There's so many snails and slugs around at the moment its obscene. I removed 16 of the bastards from Jacob's pen yesterday morning - not the greatest activity at just after 6am, is it?
Love the card and hope you have a fab week! xxxxx

  2. A quiet but productive day then, Fiona. Your card is so pretty, who cares about mistakes?!
I hope the snails leave your plants alone, pesky little sods, and that your sewing machine is fixable. And that the last of the cyclists make it home!
Sorry to hear work has been shitty. Chin up - once the ironing's done, you can put your feet up with a glass of something lovely! xxxx

  4. Doesn't look like any mistakes to me (unless it's cos you layered it up a tad!!) And it's One Layer!!
    Beautiful to me.
Sorry your weeks been pants, and although I laughed at the "large" cycling man...Good on him, I HATE cycling with a passion. Hubby cycles every single day, not me it's harder than walking in my book!!

  6. Oh I did giggle! Your card is lovely despite the boo-boo. Oh, and it depends what system you're using if you want a cedilla. http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/finetypography/ht/cedilla.htm

Looks bally complicated to me, time could be better spent snail chasing.

  7. I've had a careful look at your card and read the bit about it and still can't spot a mistake - seems absolutely lovely to me! Sounds like you had a productive potter, I'm sure your garden is looking luscious at the moment. Hope things are better at work this week x

  9. Glad you found a challenge to suit your beautiful card Fiona, did Chrissie put you on the naughty step? Hope your sewing machine is not terminal, I treated myself a couple of weeks ago to a new machine, mine was 42 years old and very slow!!

  12. Staying at home pottering is right up there on my list of top favourite things to do. I'm a bit dim so i can't see the mistake on your beautiful card. Honestly, 2014 is proving to be a hungry year for our slimy friends. They're eating everything. Bet your garden looks lovely. Xxxx
