Watch The Birdie

Another weekend another card.  This one is my entry for Sweet Stampin' Challenge where the request is for men's cards.... how timely, it's my brother's birthday next weekend.

(oops - didn't realise this side shot has revealed the sticky fixers but no time to take another)

Items used - circle spellbinder dies for dry embossing & cutting frame
card and acetate from stash
Stampin' Up  edge punch
sentiments-PB and Hero Arts
peel-offs

I'm also linking to Brown Sugar - Anything Goes and Simon Says - Anything Goes

I wanted to feature a camera on this card as my brother is a keen and talented photographer, in fact he's recently had his snap of Brighton Pier published in the August edition of Sussex Life, you can see it here.  Unusually for me there's very little stamping on this card just the sentiments on the front and insert.  I don't mind admitting that I find men's cards a pain in the arse and nearly resorted to buying one.

It was a busy weekend which commenced with a gut-busting full English at The Caff followed by hedge cutting, dividing perennials, hanging dusty drawers in the living room and coat hooks and saucepan rack in my craft room.  Look away Emma Kate, I did not countersink the screws or fill the holes with wood filler....they are visible!
(although not very, in this photo)

What did you get up to at the weekend?  Do tell.

  4. Love the card, perfect for a keen photographer like your brother.
You're your own worst critic, I can't see any sticky fixers (even if I knew what they were!) or screws, the dusty drawers and hooks all look great, and such a lovely array of things displayed on them too.
I was in London this weekend - about to try and get a post done about it, if only the kids would stop arguing so that my refereeing skills are not required... xxxx

  7. Those draws for shelves is a great idea, love it. I have an old printers draw with miniature things in it that hangs on the wall in my bedroom that I have had for years. My weekend was busy, Saturday I was the official un professional wedding photographer at a wedding, and relaxed all day Sunday.

  8. I love this card. It is such a perfect male card. May I post a link to your card on my Manly Monday blog post? It's a post where I showcase masculine cards for my readers. Let me know if you want your card in the Monday post and I'll send you a link to it after it goes live. My email is grohcm at gmail dot com. Send a link with an email so I can find your card again.
    Thanks

  10. Great job on your bro's card, and I agree boy's cards are dull! Love the shelves, pretty impressed you put them up yourself, but that says more about me than you. I used to do things like that, but i've lost the will and the skill. Got a 50th coming up this weekend (can't remember last weekend now)! Xxx

  12. Love that card! Where do you get your ideas?
As for the DIY - spectacular! You don't want to be hiding your screws at all! If you're anything like me you'll change it all around in a year or so and with hidden screws, those things would be a bugger to get off!
The drawers look amazing and are so useful for displaying chazzing treasures. Your saucepan rack looks very level indeed! Well done! xx
