It's been a busy old time of late but I found time this morning to knock up a quick card for the latest challenge at Less Is More, the theme is Up Up and Away. I have shamelessly stolen an idea that I saw being demonstrated on Create and Craft this week and adapted it slightly. Here it is.
foliage and bird by Inkylicious, sentiment a magazine freebie.
So what have I been busy with you may ask? I caught up with Dad for a pub lunch last week and afterwards finally viewed the photos from his recent trip to the Antipodes. I don't think I told you that he did a bungee jump whilst in NZ...not bad for an old geezer! Whilst being briefed, a staff member asked how old he was and when he replied 'seventy five' he got to jump for free, thus saving himself $200! Result!
I've also had several lunches with friends and been to the local theatre to see The Illegal Eagles, also with Dad. Thanks to the fine weather the garden has seen some action (not that sort Curtise!) and it's great to see new shoots emerging. There's also been some crocheting. As the forecast for today was good, I hauled my backside out of bed just after 7 a.m. and got myself down to the local car boot sale.
Here's what I bought
two brand new, bone china Morris Minor mugs 50p each, Country Living mags 10p each
filing tray £1, picture for child £1, tray of nicotianas £2, 'Tippex' 50p.

I'm really pleased with the filing tray which has restored a little more order in my craft room, the 'Tippex' is needed for my homework. I have been having tuition in French for over a year now to improve my command of the language and homework is set by my tutor after every lesson. It is usually accompanied by much swearing and crossings out, so Tippex will improve the appearance of my work, if not the content.
Recently I was asked to try to translate the lyrics to this song as it was being sung!
Trés difficile....but I loved the 70's fashions of the French version of our Young Generation and les pantalons of Monsieur Fugain.
Unfortunately, I am unable to upload the video as the embedding has been disabled but you can watch it by clicking the link below...it's worth a look for the dance moves alone!

Bonne Semaine.
Bonjour Fiona! Really lovely card and love the heart shape.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking bargains too and well done to your Dad on his scary jump - not something I could do being terrified of heights :)
Fliss xx
A fab card and some bostin' bargains! Loving those mugs and that print.
ReplyDeleteThe more I hear of your Dad the more I like him. What a geezer! xxx
Bonjour Madame
ReplyDeleteI did this style card making yesterday after I saw Wendy on the show too. Very quick isn't it, when Hubby went out I made 12 cards!!
lol
Yours with the heart is gorgeous. i will be putting some on the blog soon. Debbiex
pretty card...
ReplyDeleteWell done for getting up at the crack of dawn and tracking down some bargains, and for the garden action, ha!
ReplyDeleteIsn't your dad impressive? I'd never do a bungee jump, far too much of a scaredy cat.
I always love your cards, and I really enjoyed the video - the verse reminded me of Cat Stevens' Wild World. And I remember pinching an angel-sleeved crop top of my sister's to wear to a school disco in the mid-70s, one of the girls is wearing one very similar! xxx
I love your card ... and I love your Dad ... he's an inspiration.

Great car booty, Fiona - love the two mugs. Good prices for everything, too.
ReplyDeleteSorry, also meant to say how impressed I was that your Dad did a bungee jump at 75!! Wow!
ReplyDeleteHats off to your Dad - that's mighty impressive. Impressed with your French course too - we go to France most summers and every year I say I'm going to do something about my appalling French and every year I fail. Though you've made me dig out my Paul Noble CDs, so, thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteLovely card as always, and great car boot stuff! Like the look of the little picture x
Did your dad enjoy his trip down here to NZ? I hope so, and what a ballzy old dude, doing a bungy jump!! Your card is lovely and I like the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing haul, you really can spot a bargain Fiona.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely, the soaring bird is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI do love the heart shaped card...and the stamping inside of the heart looks great...I especially love that sentiment! Looks like you're quite the bargain shopper! I'm one of the rare women who does NOT like to shop! Not sure why...maybe if I had buckets of $$$ it would be more fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the right kind of busy. And how cool is your dad!

Such a soft, pretty card! Love seeing your shopping too and flippin' heck, what is your dad like?!!! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteYour dad is a bit of a hero. No wonder you love spending time with him. There's no way I would do a bunjee jump. Learning French on the other hand is exactly my type of thing, I love it. Did you do much speaking when you were over there last year? Xxxx
