Peace On Earth

It's been a long while since I linked to Less Is More's weekly challenge as paper crafting, due to lack of mojo and a renewed interest in crochet, has taken a back seat this year.  But, as I am currently in the process of churning out xmas cards I thought I'd have a bash at the current One-Layer Santa theme.
Here's what I did.

I cannot take the credit for this idea as I was inspired by a similar design I saw somewhere or other, on the web or in my local craft shop.  I cut a rectangular aperture and moon mask from paper and used my Ink Dusters to colour an ombre effect inside the rectangle then over stamped with magazine freebies, a gift from friend Sue.

I have spent much of the day watching the horrifying atrocities perpetrated in Paris last night and as I was photographing my card it occurred to me that Peace on Earth,
would have been a more appropriate sentiment.

As our thoughts go to the victims in Paris I'm sure I am not the only one thinking
'how long before this happens in my country?'

  1. Even if you can't take credit for the idea, you've executed it beautifully. And anyway, what is card making if it different involved taking one idea and making it your own? Lou x

  3. Gorgeous card Fiona and I think you've got that ink duster technique perfected I love the effect! Totally agree about Paris, what is the world coming to, I have a few online crafting friends who live in Paris and luckily they're OK thank goodness. If you're on days off hope tomorrow is a good one. Chris xx

  4. Peace on earth definitely needs to be more than a sentiment on a card … doesn't it. I don't know what the solution is to all this craziness … but I hope they find it soon.

  8. I know, it's been difficult to think of much else this last day or two hasn't it? It's horrific, and like you, I can't help but think, where next? I think the world is such a scary place at the moment. Peace on earth would be truly wonderful. Xxx

  9. Has there even been a time where there has been peace on Earth? I live in hope that we in New Zealand are safely tucked away from all the destructive senseless needless destructiveness shit that is going on around the world. So many innocent people are being hurt, and for what? I cannot get my head around any of it. Cause or know cause, killing people is just not the answer.

  10. Love the Peace Paris card.
Growing up and working in Birmingham terrorism from the IRA was a real threat for a lot of my life - I vividly remember walking part The Mulberry Bush with my Mum the day after the bombing as well as countless scares during my career working in the City Centre. xxx

  11. A gorgeous card, Fiona, beautifully done. Peace on earth - yes, that's a good thing to wish for, although it's hard to feel very optimistic in the light of recent events. xxx

  12. No idea what an ink duster is but I love the effect you got with it. What happened on Friday was shocking as it's so close. All we can do is be vigillant.

    I too think where next?
The world is a scary place now, but it's still beautiful and it's the only one we have so it would be nice if some peace was brought to it.xx
