Sunday Photo - The Last Roses

My climbing rose has had a severe pruning this week, it had got so leggy that I hadn't even noticed these last blooms because they were hanging over the fence into the neighbours garden.  I hoicked them back, shoved them in a pot and displayed them on the patio table.  Don't they look pretty?

  5. Beautiful. Love roses - remind me of Dad, though don't think he'd have been so impressed with mine this year, they haven't been great. Going to try a radical prune and see what happens! X

    1. They'll be fine. A friend of my mum, a gardener all his working life has a saying 'After the knife comes green' or something like that. Where's your photo today? x

  7. So pretty, now that it is a little cooler here in SW France and we have finally had a few hours of rain, the first since the end of June, I find we suddenly have a second flush of roses, the delicate pink and white shrub roses and blooming all over. I have vases of them on the kitchen table, they are the old fashioned kind and the scent is delicious.

    1. I can imagine Susan. I love the old fashioned varieties best, even if they do get black spot.
