A Peeved Puss - Sunday Photo

Bess, my foster cat has been here for over two months now.  She came to me with some skin problems which will be with her for life, but back at the start of the year when she was found as a stray, they were severe.  After months of trial and error medication there have been huge improvements but also set backs. Currently we are doing quite well but her treatment requires a weekly bath and medicated shampoo, luckily for me she is a dream cat and tolerates them with fairly good grace, despite much miaowing.

I love this photo of her as she looks thoroughly disgruntled....notice the blob of cat food on her nose, a result of wearing a buster collar and not being able to position her face in the usual way over her food dish.

  1. Oh Bess! What a beautiful girl- if a little disgruntled! I can't imagine how hard it is to bathe a cat. Jon's brilliant at giving Stephen Squirrel his steroids, which help with his skin problems but a bath might be a step too far!! xxx

    1. Bess is on steroids too and antibiotics also at the mo. We went to the vet for a review yesterday and they are very pleased with her progress, the best she's ever been apparently.
I was horrified at the thought of bathing her but apart from being a little vocal, she's good as gold.

  2. Aw, poor Bess! If Phoebe has a face like this, it's time to run. She wouldn't take kindly to a bath, I'm sure. xxx

    1. I don't think many cats would Ann. I am very fortunate that Bess is so placid. x

  3. Maybe disgruntled after a bath, but I'll bet she knows that she's very well loved & cared for. Hope she keeps improving. Take care & have a great week.

  4. Ah! She looks so cute if a trifle disgruntled. When we came back to the UK, it was time for our foster cat to leave. I had assumed she would be adopted by a loving family but she had to go back to the Carcassonne rescue. It broke my heart...

  9. She really doesn't look best happy! But think the fact Bess lets you wash her at all is pretty amazing. She's a lucky thing to have you looking after her xx

    1. I think it does usually, but she doesn't really make a fuss so it's not too bothersome.
