Crochet, Cards and Keyrings - Handmade Monday

It's a quick post from me today to share some mini makes of mine.
First up I've churned out another cat blanket...this time worked in double crochet with trebles for the frilly border.

The yarn came from a chazza and that's where it's returning as this will be donated to the Cats Protection charity shop along with a load of stuff that I've turned out this weekend.
I've a mountain of yarn sitting in my front room and I need to get rid so I think another project will soon follow.

Next are a couple of cards that I made a while ago but don't think I ever got around to posting.
The first for a cricket loving friend...

and the card below was stamped and paper pieced for another friend who'd recently moved house.

Finally a couple of keyrings that I made for more friends that I regularly meet up with.  We usually make a little gift for each other as we are all into crafts of one sort or another.
These were made with a pair of jumble sale jeans from which the hem was cut to use as the loop for the hardware, the denim pieces were cut into heart shapes on my die cutting machine.  Interfacing was used to stiffen before stitching a smaller decorative heart.
Judiciously placed bows hid any dodgy needlework. Ahem.

What have you made recently ?

  1. I can't say I made anything lately. I'm glad I got to the bottom of my mending basket for now, but that's it. The cat blanket is lovely - don't think Phoebe would ever use a blanket especially for her, though, she prefers to ruin our furniture ;-) The key rings are lovely, what a great way to use a pair of jumble sale jeans! Have a great week, Fiona xxx

    1. The blankets are handy to put in the bottom of a cat carrier and they are inexpensive things that folk can buy at the monthly homing shows.

  2. What a lovely post, looks like you have had a wonderfully creative time recently. Your cards are so pretty, I’ve tried making cards and I found out the hard way that it’s really not that easy to make them look so pretty.

I’ve managed a couple of quilt finishes recently, so am feeling terribly pleased with myself 😊

    1. Thanks for your kind comment Jayne. I imagine that quilt making is very challenging indeed, so no wonder you are pleased, deservedly so!

  3. I absolutely love your creation for Cats Protection, what a wonderful donation.
Your cards are fab and the key rings are brilliant.
I've been mostly cracking on with the Afghan squares and tackling the mending pile. xxx

    1. The cat blankets are quick to knock up with my crapola yarn stash which dominates the lounge. Now you've mastered crochet perhaps Steven Squirrel and Frank will be recipients?

  4. How lovely are those key rings? The cat blanket looks very snuggly and the cards are lovely. I can't think of anything nicer than a handmade card from a friend made especially for me - lucky friends!

I feel so guilty about all my wool I hide it in boxes and drawers in my study.....

    1. I think all us crafters have more wool than we know what to do with Vronni.

  5. Lovely makes Fiona. Feeling a bit of pressure to wade into my huge yarn stash now. Only ever seems to get bigger! Definitely knitting/crocheting weather, though kids at home and keep asking for food... Like your button ball and lovely keyrings xx

  8. I love to see how industrious and creative other bloggers are. I particularly covet those sweet cards and wish I could find the time, never mind have the skill to do something like this. Well done you with the cat blankets - such a worthy cause too!
