Scavenger Hunt - January

I've been looking forward to the first hunt of 2018 and big thanks to Kate for continuing to host it.  This year the list has been reduced to six prompts, with less to find I'm hoping my efforts will improve.

 Yellow

As I've recently booked my next flight to France (...roll on May) I was reminded of these sunflowers basking in the Vendéen sunshine, captured several summers ago.

 Starts with an .... O

I start most days with an O   ....oats.

 Light

Grey January days necessitate an artificial source.

 Found

Continuing with a French theme, I found this plaque d'immatriculation tossed underneath a hedgerow in the charming village of Vouvant, Pays de la Loire.  It's now nestled amongst  jasmine trachelospermum, adding some interest to my garden fence.

 Colourful

 From my crafting arsenal....watercolour pencils.

 My own choice

These baguette vending machines are a common sight in France now and come in handy when you realise you've no bread for dinner and the boulangerie is shut for the day.
You feed the machine with one euro and out pops some freshly baked pain.
Speaking of bread, did you hear about the scuffles in Intermarché, a French supermarket yesterday?  Shoppers desperate to get their hands on the heavily discounted Nutella were frenziedly grabbing the chocolate and hazlenut spread.
C'est complètement fou!

I hope you've enjoyed my collection of snaps.

  1. What a beautiful set of photos, love the colour pencils best I think ...

First visit here as it is my first time participating in Kate's photo challenge, the crochet heart wreath on your header is drop-dead-gorgeous! Inspired by Attic 24 by any chance?

  2. You've got it Jayne! The heart project is on the Attic 24 sidebar I think. Thanks for your kind words.

  3. Well I've never heard of a baguette vending machine, but then I've never been to France! Sounds like a good idea to me. I have to say my favourite photo is yellow; I love sunflowers.

  4. I think this is such a lovely idea!

I see you are very fond of green - as evidenced by the shortest of the colourful pencils in your water colour box!

I loved your jasmine and the number plate was such a good idea - it certainly lends interest to the fence. It's funny what people chuck away. We found our street sign tossed over our our front wall some years ago and it stayed there (behind the wall)for about a year. Now it adorns the back wall of our house - very useful if one day in the future I forget where I live!

What a marvellous idea the bread vending machine; is how very clever. It beats buying a tired old sliced loaf from Sainsbury's Local at 8pm when you've find you've run out!

I have the same spotty table cover on my table only mine is green.

    Have a lovely week.

    1. You and Vix have a lot in common then as she's always getting things lobbed over her garden wall! I bet your street sign looks great on the back of your house.

  9. Intersting collection of pictures. Like everyone else my favourite is the beautiful Sunflowers. I have failed miserably in the past with fields of sunflowers. Well done.

  10. Seeing those sunflowers pop up in my blog reading list cheered me up no end on this miserably grey day! I'm loving the pencils too! I hadn't seen those baguette vending machines, but bread vending machines, supplying fresh loaves of bread, are quite common here. I can't really people going crazy over discounted Nutella here ... xxx

I'm not a fan of Nutella either, give me Marmite any day. xxx

  13. Great photos Fiona & fancy finding a number plate in a hedge & being a colour freak, the pencils remind me of the many I have & don't use as much as I used too. Thanks for the story of the vending machine, it's so unusual. Take care.

    1. I wondered if the number plate was stolen and they disposed of it hastily....or perhaps I've been watching too many police dramas!
