Scavenger Hunt - April

Ooops!  The last few days in April ran away with me and so I'm fashionably late for the Scavenger Hunt.  It seems that I'm only popping into blogland for this challenge at present but as I've said before, it's been dullsville hereabouts. That's my fault as I'm all too aware, but I'm hoping now that spring has sprung I'll be tempted to get out and about.

Wood

I noticed this rotting tree stump along the Worth Way, once upon a time the Crawley to East Grinstead railway line, now a local track popular with dog walkers and cyclists.

Rock

Here I am at quite possibly the most famous rock in the world. This snap was taken during my four month solo backpacking adventure around Australia in 1991.

Letter

No prizes for guessing which fashion store window this letter was adorning.

Balance

Boring as hell, right?  Not to me....this is the current balance of my mortgage.  Woop woop!

Swirl

This scavenger hunt malarkey is proving hazardous to my waistline.
I spied this Swiss roll in the Co-op and having failed to come up with anything else for this prompt, shoved it in my basket.

Own Choice

Meet Simon, my current foster cat.  Not only is he beautiful, he is also the sweetest natured moggy.... can you tell that I'm quite smitten with him?    He's rather a big boy, in fact he was a massive 9.5kgs when he first came into care but with a restricted diet he's now down to 7.9 although there's still a way to go.  He's getting more active by the day...and as you can see, has fully checked out all the facilities at his latest lodgings.

Thanks for bearing with me during this blogger's block.... I'm aiming to be back soon, meanwhile I'm off to look at other Scavenger participants, you can find them HERE.

  1. I think we will leave America and Australia to argue the Rock one out. I love your cat checking out the fascilities! That mortgage is nearly all gone. Hurrah.

    1. Yes he is rather gorgeous. Couldn't quite believe that I was at Ayres Rock or Uluru as it is known nowadays.

  3. Great photos and stories. Just love Simon, especially checking out the facilities. Yes Ayres Rock is also a good one. Best one, in an encouraging way, is your mortgage balance statement! I remember paying ours off and what a relief it was.

  4. Your Swiss Roll looks much nicer than mine :) I like the 'M' - my favourite colour - and that fashion chain is one which the firm where I work does signage for. I adore Simon, he's beautiful, and I like the shot of him checking out the facilities. If he came to me for fostering I'm afraid he would be staying :)

    1. That Swiss roll was overly sweet, but of course I still ate it!
I have been tempted to adopt Simon, but it's just not practical as I'm away so much in summer and a cattery would not take him as he's FIV.

  8. Oh Simon! What a pretty boy!
Check you out in Oz in that slinky halterneck.
Loving the petrified wood, I'd know that M anywhere even if I've never set foot in one!
Brilliant news on the mortgage, how exciting! xxx

  9. Funny photo of Simon! It is a very big cat ... I am thinking that my small dog weights about 7 kg!
It's nice to see you in an old photo !

I want to thank you for your friendly comment on my blog. Unlikely there is something wrong with my blog at the moment as I can't reply ... sorry!

  10. Nothing wrong with being fashionably late. Lovely to see that old photo of yours and I'm in awe: I don't think I would have had the guts to go backpacking on my own! Favourite photo, obviously, is the lovely Simon. And congratulations on being almost mortgage-free! xxx

    1. Hi Sue
It's not practical to keep him now I'm away so much, I seem to recall you said that about Bess too! They are all lovely in their own ways though.

  12. Oh well done you on (almost) paying off your mortgage!

I loved the wood picture - what wonderful colours and textures. I also loved the swiss roll especially to eat...

Simon looks like he has always lived with you and the blanket he's resting on is very pretty.

I am very much in awe of your solo backpacking trip. I'm not sure I could do it; although I have never thought about it. I think I might like company on a challenge like that. Did you find it challenging?

It's a fab photo of you and the Rock is magnificent...

    1. The most challenging part was actually getting on the plane and the journey, wondering if I was mad? However, I met another traveller on the aircraft who gave me her friend's address in Sydney, we met up and I ended up staying there for two weeks...(it was a pub!) Honestly I met so many interesting people that I never would have met if I'd been travelling with a friend. xxx

  13. Love the gnarled piece of wood & the sticky beak cat! Now how bizarre is the fact, that whilst you were holidaying in Oz, I was paying my first visit to UK with my Yorkshire hubby & our 2 boys. Take care.

  15. Great photos - Simon is gorgeous - I miss my cats - they're so curious about water aren't they.
I love the rotting wood and the Ayers Rock shot.

  16. Fantastic news about the mortgage! That must feel great. Lovely pic of you on your adventures in Oz - look back on my trips to far flung places with serious rose-tinted glasses now. Would love to head off again before I get too creaky, though a bit more upmarket than last time..
Simon is gorgeous, nicest looking Simon I've seen, and he's a big bear of a cat! Often find Humbug drinking out of the loo - really disgusting, but she won't drink from her bowl! What's that all about?
Hope you're enjoying the sunshine xxx
