New Stamps!

I went to a Stampin' Up evening at Natalie O'Shea's the other night and picked up some new (to me) but retired stamps which were perfect for Clean & Simple FTL125. Here is the sketch........

.....and this is my card.

All cardstock came from my stash (the oranges have been there for YEARS) The stamps are called Seeing Spots and were inked with Versafine colours except the yellow which was a D.I. The sentiment was also Stampin' Up.

Thanks for popping in.

A Real Cool Dude

Here is the sketch for this week's Clean & Simple's FTL 124 challenge.

I started my card before I had properly thought about which stamp I was going to use for the tall thin element of the sketch. I then had several attempts with stamps that just didn't look right. However, I settled on this guy from Woodware....and I think he's just right.

The oval was coloured with Old Paper D.I. on Cut n Dry and as I didn't have any ribbon the right colour I dyed some white satin ribbon with an ink pad. The image was stamped using Versafine and heat embossed, I then coloured him using various inkpads and promarkers, and mounted him with sticky fixers from the pound shop!

I think he's playing 'Purple Haze'

This card is also suitable for Challenge Up Your Life's Clean & Simple theme this week
Thanks for stopping to look at my blog today.

Bookatrix

Here is a card that I made for my Auntie who is 60 tomorrow, I know she has opened it already as she phoned to thank me. I borrowed a Bookatrix from my friend Eunice and this is what I created, not everyone's cup of tea but I try to make something that I think the recipient will like, & not just what I like.

I used Bazzil bling (which is why it looks a bit shiny in this photo taken with artificial light) and some other pretty patterned card, not sure who the manufacturer is but bought at The Craft Barn. The roses and leaves were die cut with Marianne dies.

I made a little oval card
using my nesties, stamped the sentiment by HobbyArt and wrote my greeting inside. Two of the layers were edged with border peel-offs (Eeek!) and the finishing touch was the ribbon.

Now I have a question. Does anyone know of any dies that will make bigger roses? These are my set but I'm sure there are larger ones out there somewhere.

Answers on a postcard please........

I'm entering this card into the Winter Wonderland challenge this week where the theme is Pink/Purple. I thought it was a christmas challenge but as one of the DT has made a birthday card, I think it'll be ok.

As usual, TFL.

Quick CAS

Made this card very speedily after Emmerdale, Corrie and the washing up! I followed the sketch FTL123 on this weeks Clean & Simple Challenge.
Papers used were from my stash and so was the felt which I die cut, the sentiment is by Paula Pascual.

Brian's Birthday

Here is a card I've made for my friend Brian who is 50 next week. Goodness knows why I've been friends with him for over 30 years, as his nickname for me is Thunder Thighs ! (Not very accurate these days though, I'm pleased to say.)

Unusually for me this card does not involve any stamping and is a different take on a gap card. I used some new papers, (glitter and the patterned paper is one not used before from a Kirsty Wiseman CD.) so I am entering it in the following challenges.

Cupcake Craft Challenges - Something New
One Stop Craft Challenge - Card for a male
TotallyPaperCrafts - Happy Birthday
Craft Your Days Away Challenge - Anything goes

Hope you like it and thank you for all the lovely comments you left on my last post.

A Blogging Break

...is what I've had over Christmas and the New Year as I wasn't much in the mood for crafting, however since getting back to my computer I saw this challenge and thought I'd give it a bash. One Layer Wednesday's theme this week is Yellow, never an easy colour (not for me anyway) and doing a one layer card is tricky, such is the temptation to add embellishments. Anyway here is my effort using the new Inkadinkadoo sentiment stamp I bought today for the bargain price of £2.99 in Hobbycraft.

I used a really ancient balloon stamp on a post-it to make a mask and stuck it down on my card blank, and also masked a border around the edge of the card. I then used Cut 'n Dry to apply the Mustard Seed D.I. and stamped the fab quotation over it. Finally I added a string to the ballon with a fine tip marker.

I'm also entering this into a new challenge I've just found - Stampin' Royalty where they are celebrating their birthday.

Must go now, have a Marmalade cake in the oven and don't want it to burn.
Happy New Year to you all and thanks for looking.
