A Productive Morning

Two more snaps for the September photo a day challenge.

Near  (thank goodness!)

I've had a productive morning, I've cleaned and tidied the filth pit otherwise known as my craft room and you can now see the desk and carpet!  I've also been out for a constitutional this morning.  Since starting my new and more sedentary job earlier this year I have put on a whopping half a stone which I am trying to shift.  Even tho it was piddling down again I marched into the village and up to the allotments to pick some crops.

My runners were so late going in this year due to the appalling weather, I am still picking them now.  I've a feeling said appalling weather is back!

Festival Of Vintage

Despite the filthy weather yesterday New Man and I ventured out to the rather grandly (and not very appropriately, I thought) Festival of Vintage at Epsom.
It was buzzing when we arrived just an hour after doors had opened and jivers were in full swing to The Stylettes.

There were stalls a plenty crammed with vintage clothes, jewellery, furniture, ephemera - you name it, it was there.  I had my eye out for some red earrings but alas they eluded me.  Being the thrifty person I am, (for thrifty read tightarse) I thought the price tags were rather inflated, so used am I to chazza and JS prices.

The queues for teas and refreshments were a mile long but it didn't bother us as we'd brought our own lunch along and ate it whilst we people watched.

Isn't she gorgeous, but if I was into this look it would take me all day to get out of the house.  How long would those victory rolls take ?

Other activities taking place were vintage make-overs, Make Do and Mend workshops and vintage fashion parades.  This trio named The Swinging Sweethearts looked and sounded fantastic.

Whilst strolling around I bumped into LandGirl 1980 and said hello, but stupidly forgot to get a photo. As usual she looked fabulous and received many admiring glances.  This was my token vintage look yesterday!

I couldn't leave without making a purchase and bought this scarf and 60's brooch.  I struck a deal at £10 for the two which is pricey enough but the brooch just caught my eye, and has come up a treat after the application of Brasso.

On our way out we had a quick shufty at the vintage cars, the rain was coming down in stair rods so we didn't hang around.....

.......but on the back seat of one of the motors we saw the most vingage thing of the day!

What did you get up to at the weekend ?

Blogger has been an absolute mare today, anyone else having trouble ?

From The Dew Soaked Hedge Creeps A Crawly Caterpillar

Autumn has definitely arrived.  This week I've had the fire on, had a hot water bottle and I'm thinking about a new pair of boots and a coatOver at CAS-ual Friday they are also in an autumnal mood for this week's challenge.

My effort was made using the SU Autumn Days set which I believe is about to be withdrawn.  The picture was taken first thing this morning in the garden so apologies for the shadows.   I'm also linking this to Stamptacular Sunday for their Less Is More challenge

If autumn only did bring crawly caterpillars I wouldn't mind but it also delivers an abundance of scary bastard spiders with monumental proportions which, in this household comes with much loud shrieking!  This one was found loitering with intent in my bath!

Aaaaargh!!!!

I've a few days off now and I'm planning to go to a Vintage Fair at Epsom racecourse tomorrow (weather permitting) which I'm looking forward to.  Before that, I've got oodles of housework to get through, so had better shoot.

Enjoy your weekend girls.

'Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky

It's a quick post from me today as I've stacks to do, mostly boring housework it has to be said, but last night I had a little time for crafting so here's my first entry to the recently started CAS-ology challenge where the theme is SKY.  As I have spent 16 years of my working life in the sky, an aviation theme seemed only fitting.

The clouds and roof top stamps are by SU and the aircraft was a new stamp purchased yesterday in Hobbycraft for £1.  The sentiment on the banner was computer generated and is slightly 'rippled' but the camera hasn't picked it up, it's a very dismal day today!

I've also been busy making more hair accessories for December's craft fair and here they are modelled by my lovely niece Em.

(Poses from the Mrs Beckham School of Modelling)

Today's picture for September photo-a-day needs no explanation.

Favourite

Celeb Watch-spotted at Gatters this week were William Roache aka Ken Barlow and Macca's ex Heather Mills (if you can call her a celeb?)

Must shoot now, a woman's work... etc, etc,

Scarves And A Scooter

Does anyone else agree that the older you get the faster time seems to fly ?   My four days off have gone by in a flash, but the sun has shone, I've had a chazza fix, lunch with a friend, lots of booze and an impromptu dog grooming session!  I know how to live!

First up are my chazza finds, readers will know that finding reasonably priced vintage clothes in the South is rare, so rare I've yet to find any....but I did score this vintage silk headscarf in my favourite independent chazza shop for only £1!

Over the road at the hospice shop I found these bargains.

Old tin tray £1

Another silk scarf (this one's Accessorize) £1!

I did see a lovely 70's flower power bed cover, but at £15 I thought it was too pricey..... or perhaps I'm just too tight?

On Wednesday my mate Debbie and I had a girly day out in Lewes and ate lunch in a fabulous restaurant called Bill's which had a really buzzing vibe.

The place was packed to the gunwales and the food a delight for the tastebuds.  We whiled away a couple of hours catching up on the gossip and family news before a wander around the shops. Lewes is a pretty town with a brewery, lovely boutiquey stores, (with prices to match) a good selection of chazza's and a prison!

The following day over at NM's, he had to go out unexpectedly and I was left home alone with Chalky who was looking decidedly scruffy.  After a severe brushing he still looked tatty so out came the scissors and I delivered my first doggie haircut!  Chalky loved it. On NM's return I attempted to ride his old Vespa around the garden, (as you do) but the sodding clutch stuck and I almost went arse over tit.  No I was not pissed!   To avoid further injury I satisfied myself with just snapping it.

Well that's my week, back to the grind tomorrow.  By the way, did anyone watch the new Dallas?  I have to confess that Dallas is one of my guilty pleasures as I watch the old series' which continually run on CBS, and was curious to see how the new series would measure up.  JR, Baaby and Swellen are back and John Ross is now all grown up...as is Christopher who as a baby had a face that only a mother could love and is now a gorgeous hunk!  Sue Ellen's lips strangely look larger than they did 30 years ago, now I wonder how that can be?

Bye Y'all.

A Quiet Sort Of Week

I've made a hasty entry for LIM's challenge this week, the theme being

PINK & BROWN
Here's what I knocked up quickly this morning, I'm on nights again tonight so not much time for crafting today.

I used a Crafty Individuals tree stamped with Versafine on a sponged background.  The tree was embossed with clear EP and disappointingly this caused the horizon line to show through the tree but I didn't have the time to start again and couldn't think of an idea to disguise it. (How come this never happens to Barbara Grey!!)  The sentiment was free with a magazine eons ago and punched out, the stamped panel was mounted on my card blank with dimension tape.  IRL the pink shading is much more pronounced than appears here but it's another grey day and my camera did not capture it well.

Thanks for all your comments regarding the felt flower hair clips in my last post, I've made some more and embellished them with some funky brads that lovely Elizabeth sent me.  What do you think ?

It's been a quiet sort of week and nothing monumental has happened.  I went for a stroll with New Man in the week to 'the caff' (it's legendary round here) for brunch and took these snaps en route.  Curtise, prepare to be amazed!!  Ta dah!

Finally I have got to grips with PicMonkey, there was a bit of swearing involved...OK more than a bit actually, but I'm never going to be an IT genius so for me creating a collage was an achievement!  I know I need to add a background and rounded corners but hey, lets not run before I can walk.

Latest Gatwick Goss...... yesterday was a day for celebs as I saw Max Clifford and Martin Clunes.  One Direction were also there apparently but I missed them, much to my 12 yr old niece's chagrin.  (Wouldn't have recognised them anyway!)

Must shoot now as nails in dire need of attention (looking tres scabby) and a home manicure is essential.  Gardening and clearing out the shed gives one terribly tatty talons you know.

Toodle pip. x

Not sure what's happened to the text spacing today, anyone know how to fix it ?
