Deal-ights

Hello Bloggers, I'm back!

I've been away for a few days since I last blogged, I went to visit my Aunt & Uncle in Kent, I always have a lovely stay there and this time was no exception.  When I arrived, after a restorative cuppa we had a quick drive down to Hythe for a stroll along the seafront.  The weather was cold and blowy but there were a few hardy souls around, as usual I had my camera with me.

Although it was bloody chilly I managed to force down a 99!

How windy ??

The next morning we were up.... late and after breakfast headed for Deal, another Kent seaside town. Some of my UK readers will remember that the Deal barracks of the Royal Marines were bombed in 1989 by the IRA, killing 11 and wounding another 21.

Deal was a delight if only for the abundance of chazza shops, sensible prices and VINTAGE stuff!!  I will show you my bargains another day as I've yet to photograph them but here's Deal.

The shops were still in Jubilee mode

We strolled to the end of the pier for scones, jam and cream.

before the weather got really grim...

...we got back to the car in the nick of time and headed for Dover.

En route we spotted these amazing poppies growing in swathes along the side of the road so of course, never one to miss a photo opportunity I ground to a halt.

And although Dover was only a short drive around the coastline from Deal, the clouds disappeared and 'hoorah' we saw the sun!!

The White Cliffs of Dover. Cue Vera.

I think 14 snaps is a record for me, is there anybody still reading ??

Changing the subject now, I spotted a couple of 'celebs' at Gatters last week.  Firstly Ms Kirsty Wark, her of 'Newsnight' and secondly Mr Peter Stringfellow.  Unfortunately after seeing the latter I could not get this image out of my mind.

Yeeeuch!  What were they thinking ???

I've got three night shifts now so I'll see you on the other side.

On My Plate Ma'am

The theme for today's June Photo-a-day is On Your Plate.  Here's what was on mine which I enjoyed whilst watching the Jubilee on telly.

The weather was a disappointment although expected, but it certainly didn't deter the crowds.

I thought her Maj looked a bit nippy at times, but very sensibly she took a wrap along.  My favourite part of the proceedings was the fantastic old steam train at the start.

Here where I live there was to be a picnic on the village green but it was rained off, no doubt the pub did well though.

If you celebrated today, hope it went well.

Jubilee Jubilation

The country's gone Jubilee mad and quite rightly I say, I don't think her Maj has done a bad job and at 86 (? ) I think she's bloody marvellous to keep on working day in day out, meeting ministers, dignitaries, the general public and countless other people that no doubt bore her rigid.  Of course she's enjoyed a very privileged life, but be honest, would you want to do it ?  Anyway enough waffle, in recognition of this weekend's special celebration Less is More have a Red white and Blue theme to their challenge this week and here is my effort.

I drew a grid very feintly onto the cardstock and stamped the sentiment. Next I punched out the butterflies with a Woodware punch, embossed the white ones in an embossing folder, and embellished the blue ones with faux pearls.  Then I arranged them as best I could within the grid, rubbed out the lines and job's a good 'un.

Today saw me getting a very overdue chazza fix although maybe 'fix' is a misnomer, as yet again pickings were very slim and... expensiveI did however find this lovely water carafe and glass for the guest room.

This week saw an addition to the family as my cousin Zoe had her first baby on Wednesday morning.  A little girl weighing in at 7lbs 14oz who has been named Lara Bonnie.  The middle name is after my mum, as it was her family nickname, her grandmother said she was such a bonny baby the first time she saw her and it stuck for the rest of her life.  As she got older she became 'Bon', but Zoe always called her Auntie Bonnie and I think mum would have been so touched to have her great niece named after her.  We were all hoping the baby would arrive today as it is mum's birthday, she would have been 73.  Hoping to go and see baby Lara next week so be prepared for pics!

Thats all from me, got a riveting evening ahead sorting out a mountain of bags/shoes in the bottom of my wardrobe, what a wild life I lead.

Thanks for looking and hello to my new followers Ziggy, Ardyth and Ivy Black.
