Three Squares, an Award and some Hellebores

The theme for this week's Less is More challenge is Three Squares, and I had just the right stamps in mind for this challenge. A neighbour of my parents very kindly gave me some stamping stash recently that she had acquired and it was all brand new! I'm not sure who produced these stamps as there was no name on the box but as there are a set of six they will be very useful I'm sure.
It's been a while since I made an acetate card and this one took four attempts!
Firstly I got inky finger marks on the finished piece, then on my second attempt the spacing was out, third time lucky? ... no, I used the wrong embossing powder by mistake and so this is my fourth and final effort.

I'm still not completely happy with it but there's only so much time you can spend making a card when there's a pile of ironing waiting downstairs.
The square images were stamped using blue and teal inks and embossed with clear EP, and the sentiment is by Paula Pascual.

I was so amazed by the amount of comments left last week and I received a Stylish Blog Award from Val & Laura. Thank you ladies.

It comes with the following instructions:

Step 1 - Make a post linking back to the person who gave you the award!
Step 2 - Share 7 random things about yourself
Step 3 – Award 7 recently discovered bloggers with this award
Step 4 – Contact these bloggers and tell them they’ve won the award.

So, here are 7 random things about me:-
1. I was an Air Hostess for 16 years
2. I've done a Bungee Jump
3. My favourite tipple is cider
4. I love junk shops and general household auctions
5. I backpacked around Australia on my own in my twenties
6. I'm a Leo
7. My bicycle came from a skip

Now then, it appears there are a plethora of awards doing the rounds at the moment and so many ladies have already received this award. Therefore I'm only passing this award on to Beth and Sarah-Jane whose blogs I've recently discovered and enjoyed.

Before I make inroads into the ironing, thought I'd just share a snap that I took this morning of these lovely Hellebores which I cut from my garden. Pretty eh?

Thanks for looking and ttfn.

Spring Challenges

Hello All,

Firstly I would like to say thank you to everyone for their kind words on my last post, I had my most comments ever (28!) and would also like to say 'Hi' to my new followers.

I am really enjoying Chrissie & Mandi's new 'Less is More' challenge, it is so my cup of tea. The very informative tutorials are a great way to pick up tips to improve your techniques, and this week's info on computer sentiments, was so useful for a technophobe like me. Although I haven't put it into practice yet, I will deffo be trying it out! This week's theme is Spring and here is my effort.

I used a hammered card to stamp on so my Hero Arts branch has a mottled effect and I think it looks better IRL. I wiped off the ink where the flowers should be and added punched flowers instead, I was trying to achieve a cherry blossom look. The french sentiment is by Isabelle Norris for Katzelkraft.

Charisma Cardz
also have a Spring challenge.

Some spring weather would be nice but as it's my weekend off, it's wet & windy of course.

TFL and toodle-oo.

Shadow Stamping

My latest card is a very simplistic style and only took a few minutes to achieve. The challenge at One Layer Wednesday this week is to use two image stamps, no embellishments or bling. Quite a tricky one for me but I was determined to have a go, and although I used a small card I'm not sure if the images should have been bigger as there is still a lot of white space. I think I may add a sentiment before I send this to anyone.

I used a Hero Arts Shadow Stamp and the grass is by Crafty Individuals.
I'm also entering this card in the following challenges

Less is More - One Layer (Tree or Flower but hoping a grass will qualify)
Totally Papercrafts - CAS
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes.

Thank you for looking and for all the lovely comments left last week.

ttfn,

Less is More

is the name of a new challenge that starts today hosted by Chrissie & Mandi and is definitely one I will be entering as I love the CAS look. Their inaugural challenge is for cards using Black, White and Pink I've also been able to combine it with another challenge from One Layer Wednesday where their requirements are an image, a border and bling.

Pink is not a colour I use a lot, and therefore I didn't have a pink inkpad and had to rely on a pink marker pen to ink up my Poppy stamp by Papermania. However when it came to stamping the border,(the smaller butterfly stamp also by Papermania) the detail was lost so I reverted to the old favourite-Versafine. The sentiment was stamped with this also and is by SU., and I found some cerise pink gems in my stash to finish off.

Before I go I must mention a lovely award I received recently from Andria. Apparently the award goes to little known but worthy blogs so I am very pleased to accept it and am passing it on to the three following ladies.

Georgia-Kitty Krafts
Eunice-Cruising & Crafting
Toni-Sweet Pea's Story

One last thing, apologies for the apalling photo and distortion to the picture, I've no idea what's causing it. I used my daylight bulb lamp as usual but this snap looks like it was taken in the black hole of Calcutta! roll on the summer.

ttfn,

Valentine's

I'm on leave for a couple of weeks and it's given me a chance to make a few Valentine's cards which I've been asked for by the blokes at work. I've done a few cutesy sort of cards but I prefer this one which I am entering into the following challenges.

Creative Inspirations-Love/Valentine's
Craft Your Days Away-Love
Stamptacular-Whateva

The leafy flourish stamp is by Artemio, the flowers by SU, the sentiment is Rachel Anne Miller and of course the border punch is Martha Stewart.

Hope you like it and more importantly, hope the blokes at work will too!

Thanks for stopping to look.
