Getting Edgy

......Sneaking in one more card before I'm back to work tomorrow. I've been out in the sun most of the day but had this idea earlier for CAS-ual Friday's latest challenge which is to put a fun edge on your card, so have quickly put this together before I embark on the mountain of ironing.

I used Versafine Ink in Habanero to stamp the Leafy Flourish by Clarity Stamps. The sentiment is by Stampin' Up and the ribbon is what was tied around the napkins at my cousins wedding last year. (The cheapskate that I am, I went gathering it all up once the guests had left the tables.) The inside is lined with matching paper. I have used this idea before with this stamp and I think it works well, the photo isn't brilliant as the sun was fading so I may take another snap tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate all your comments.

LIM sketch

Thanks to everyone who left a comment on my LIM card last week, and once again your messages of sympathy were very much appreciated.
The latest challenge from Mandi & Chrissie is a sketch, not my favourites I have to say, but thought I should give it a bash all the same.

I had a good look through my stamps as I wanted to use something that wasn't obvious, but after a good root through them I settled on a flower due to lack of imagination and nothing else suitable!

(The photo's are a bit crappy-not sure if it's Blogger or me, but are much better if you click on them)

I used some brown cardstock which has been in my stash forever and some pink and white spotty DP. Some buttons and floss completed the front and on the inside I printed a birthday greeting on the computer and added a strip of DP to pretty it up a little.

Nosy Prudy thought she'd get in on the action whilst I was trying to take my photograph's. I think she was trying to catch some rays after all the miserable weather we have had lately, although it has made everything in the garden shoot up, including the grass which I'm off to mow now.

Thanks for taking a look and for any comments you may leave.

Monogram

Hello bloggers,

Firstly, to everyone who left lovely messages of sympathy on my last post, thank you so much, it was very kind of you and much appreciated.

I have been back in my craft room this morning and have produced a card for this week's Less Is More challenge - Monogram. It's a bit of a tricky one this week especially as the monogram should represent the word and not be part of it. Anyway, here is my effort

I masked a border around the edge of the card with low tack tape and used a chipboard letter as a mask and applied D.I. around it with Cut n Dry and sponge daubers. To finish off I embellished the letter with a few punched daisies with pearl centres. I have my auntie in mind for this card whose name begins with A, she doesn't 'do' computers so I think I am safe posting this. Hope you like it.

A nice surprise came my way last week when I won some blog candy from Stamping Matilda's 5th blogaversary draw. If you haven't seen Godelieve's blog, do go and take a look at her fab designs and photograph's.

As always, thanks for looking and have a good weekend.

In Loving Memory of Mum

There’s a very sad reason why I haven’t been around for a while. Just over a year ago my mum was diagnosed with terminal Renal Cell Carcinoma and last month we lost her. It was a horrible end to her life but she was so brave, stoic and dignified throughout her illness, so strong that she even planned her funeral, the hymn’s, readings and music.
That was my mum, organised!
I will miss her dreadfully.  I miss our chats, her humour and her sharp tongue (when my dad has done something she wouldn’t have been happy about!)  I shall miss her marvellous cooking, her gardening tips, her kindness, wisdom, advice and much, much more.  I know I was very fortunate to have had her, she was a wonderful mum.
She took an interest in my blog and gave me feedback on my cards, (mostly positive!) and of course this is yet another thing that I shall miss.  However, I do know that she wanted us all to get back on with our lives, so I intend to return to my craft room shortly.

Until then,
Fiona x
